Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Class Teachers: Miss Fox (4A) and Miss Hussey (4S)

 Teaching Assistant: Mrs Le Goff

Welcome to Y4’s class page.  We have loved teaching the children so far and all have settled in so well this year.  We have been having lots of fun learning about the Egyptians and about mechanisms so far and we can’t wait to have even more fun as the year goes on.  We will be learning fun and exciting things such as The Anglo –Saxons, electricity, food and nutrition and even more!

This year, there have been some changes to make sure that we can all stay safe in school. This means that homework will be set through SeeSaw. All children have been sent home with logins but if there are any issues please do not hesitate to contact us.  We really need everyone’s support with homework this year to make sure that our children have the best chances possible this year.

Homework is set every Friday to be returned by Thursday.

Reading is a really important part of your child’s life in school.  We ask you to hear your child reading every night and to sign their reading journal.  This will be checked by Miss Hussey and Miss Fox every morning.  The children can change their book daily.

This year, the children in Y4 will be part of national testing for times tables.  Therefore, in our Maths lessons, there is a real focus on knowing our times tables off by heart. By the end of the year we will know up to 12 times 12 without even thinking! Parents and guardians, you could even test your children to help them become an even more marvellous mathematician. Why not say your multiplication tables together while walking to school? The children also have access to Times Tables Rockstars which is a really fun way to practise.

Being healthy is important to us all. We drink plenty of water during the day and have a healthy playtime snack. For example; oranges, apples, pears, bananas. Running a mile a day (weather permitting) is an important part of our school day.

If any parents or carers would like any help to support their child outside of school, especially through reading or maths, please feel free to ask questions or run past some new ideas you may have. You are always welcome.

We hope that you enjoyed reading about our class and there will be opportunities for you to come and see us working in class soon!
