Year 3A

Welcome to Year 3A

Our class teacher in Year 3A is Mrs Ward and our Teaching Assistant is Miss Stubbs.

As year 3 is a transition year from infants to juniors, we work extremely hard and have a ‘work hard, never give up’ attitude.

As you are aware, reading is extremely important to develop your child’s speaking, listening and writing skills; so we encourage you to read with your child daily and also let them listen to you read. So far, the children are keen and reliable readers, so keep it up!

We also work super hard in our maths lessons, building on our existing knowledge and experiencing new learning. In year 3, we focus on our 3, 4, and 8 times tables so feel free to practice these at home with your child.  In English we have been reading ‘The Stone Age Boy’ and exploring life in Stone Age times.

In year 3 we are lucky enough to have the ‘Promethean Experience.’  You may hear your child talking about the ‘Bobs’ or ‘the handsets,’ and how they are enjoying using them.  These are small electronic devices that enhance your child’s education in particular the mental recall of your child.

During a typical hectic week in year 3, we develop our knowledge in other subjects, such as RE (Come and See syllabus), Science, History, Geography, French, Music, Computing, PSHE, PE and Art. This term we are currently creating fossils and cave paintings, looking at rocks and investigating their uses which the children are enjoying.

We also take part in daily collective worship sessions to reflect on our busy day and daily lives.

Remember, if you ever have any worries, concerns or questions, feel free to make an appointment to have a chat!

We hope that you enjoyed reading about our class, we are a really friendly bunch so please feel free to pop in and say hi!
